My Grandad's Mk2 Cav.

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone.

I'm having to sell my Grandad's 1985 Cav L 1.6 mk2 saloon.

Looking for some guidance to pricing and any future interest.

As i said it's a 1985 on a D plate and has done 118odd thousand miles, garaged every night and is in a champagne metallic colour. the interior is immaculate.

The car itself has MOT for 11 months and Tax until August, a few small bubbles of rust on the back arches and a small blemish on the front drivers side too.

The car is a genuine acheivement to show what lasts if you look after it and so has never wanted for anything.

My grandad is now 80 and with no power steering on this car has had to admit defeat, we'll all be sad to see the car go, but want it to go to a home that will continue to care for it.

Please let me know your feedback is greatly appreciated

thanks.

Danny

Do you have any pictures of it?

Pictures always help with a sale, but so does location. This allows club memebers in the locality to come and view it and report back to interested parties who may live further away. Pictures can be posted using photbucket site and pasting the img code into the reply box on our site. Hope this helps! Why dont you keep it, you might like driving it and then you could join the madness on here. :)

Manual or Auto

Ditto that. :)

It's sad about the steering. Bolly's owner of 24 years let her go for exactly the same reason. Mind you, they do feel a bit "tanklike" on ocassions in tight spots!

Change the tyres to 165 width and keep them with a good pressure in them. That will lighten the steering a lot.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the posts, Ok the power steering option is out as were not sure he will carry on driving much longer, he now has a toyota carolla for a little while to see how he gets on, but if he still struggles then i'm afraid we'll have to have a chat about his future on the roads.

The car is at JCT 27 off the M1 in Annesley. I'll get some pictures put up in the next few hrs.

It's a manual 5 speed.

As i say we just want it to go to someone who will care for it too. I would have it but have nowhere to keep it and we already have 2 cars in the family.

Hi Danny, nice looking car there, what sort of figure are you looking for? Anthony.

As someone has said above i'd like to get as close to a grand, but i'm sentimental about it, would you like to view the car sometime?

I might be a bit out with the price range, but let me know what you thinking?

Thanks, just wanted a rough idea of what you wanted for the old girl. I have been after a saloon - but im in Swansea so not sure when i could make it for a viewing (kids, work etc!). Personally, a grand would be a bit steep for me - but its worth whatever someones willing to pay- so you never know. Thanks for getting back to me. Anthony.

Nice looking car the foglights and rear trim must have been an extra you don't usually see them on a base L just my opinion but a grand may seem a but optimistic .700 would be a good figure to work around itl need the arches done just if someone is buying a cav that's gonna need a little bit of work there not mad on giving a grand before they do anything .that's just my opinion but it's a nice cav you shouldn't have much bother selling saloons are a little harder to get

Looks like i'll need it.

118k on the clock

Taxed til sept 11.

Mot til March 12.

Only rust on the pics in the above link on the back arches.

Come on someone save this beauty from the brink, I don't want to put it on ebay but it's looking that way.

£700 ono?

Does anyone think it's worth a trip to Billing in July with her? someone might be interested at the show, or don't people buy from shows anymore.

I would advertise it everywhere mate. Local papers, on the internet, Ebay, (a website called Pistonheads does well), Autotrader, and a trip to Billing would definatly be a good idea if you still have it. Hell why not join up as a member and keep it as a project car  ;)

its been said before but photos are worth 1000 words  ;)

*edit just seen the link to pics above  :-[

defintly looks worth saving pity i dont have a spare £700 at the moment
