the last mk2 in my town was a calibre and that was when i was 14 and i'm now 30!

i'll be the only 1 in a 20 mile radius i'm sure :)

is that your cav in the pic? the blue 1? it looks very tidy mate

Yeah thats it its mint underneath and on the arches but the bit that carnt be seen in the photo is the roof and all the laqure has peeled also on the boot as it was down south all its life, ill be getting it painted though soon as possible

sounds like all it needs is a spray and it'll be mint!

i just got insurance quotes for mine and wait for it! £148 fully comp  ;D

The body is just normal old cavalier stuff mate we have all been their ;) ;)  the trim will be the hardest thing to source the body is ok not sure on the underneath but the arch's and sills will need doing asap and then a paint but it all depends on how far you want to go,

well my plansfor it was to run it till my zafira was back on the road but as its quite a rare model i may hang onto it and try and tidy it up a bit.

i'm a mechanic to trade so can do any repairs myself but advice isalways helpfull! as this is my first mk2, i've had 3 mk3's but the basics will be nearly the same for both i guess.

hello welcome aboard, what happened to the zafira?

i had one running 296bhp and loved it but petrol went sky high and as it did 11mpg when your having a bit of fun and only 23mpg on a run,and there was talks about £400 a year road tax so i sold it after loosing nearly £10k on it

THEN petrol came right done, and the £400 tax scheme seems to have gone.

GUTTED

heres a pic of it before it went up in BHP

still ive got a better car now ;D ;D ;D

still dont know the cause of the failure but suspect blocked oil pick up.

mine was better on fuel than yours, over 30mpg on the motorway sometimes 40mpg  :o

and always 28mpg pottering about.

mine was at best 26mpg on a run @60mph

it had VXR injectors, air flow and turbo but only a F23 5 speed box, i didnt buy it for mpg, sad though as that was one of the main reasons i sold it!

mine was running stage 1 and i have fitted the m32 from the vxr to mine :P

at 60mph i can easily get 40mpg. its a great big car, its certainly packs a punch for a big car.

is the m32 a straight fit as when i had mine it looked like a mission, looked like you needed drive shafts, box, gear lever, linkage cables and mod the subframe?

  • Author

it wasn't any worse than changing a gearbox.

i did need a few bits to suit. driveshafts, mounts, gear cables and shifter. the hardest to find was shafts. need to be from a mk5 astra 2.0 turbo NON vxr or similar mk2 zafira.
