The letter in the middle of the Vin number is the official Vauxhall/Opel indication of year of manufacture which should be accepted by DVLA. The letters from A to V cover all Mk2 and Mk3 Cavaliers in particular. There is nothing else out there that can help you. All the production records at Luton were destroyed as they has nowhere to put them and no will to keep them when they shut Griffin Hose and good luck finding any Antwerp records if yours was made there (5 or 6 after the age letter) as that site was shut. Peugeot the current owner of the brands has no interest on old GM cars and don't know what you are talking about if you were able to penetrate.. The image below is from the Vauxhall Technical Reference Guide VA0203134 January 2002.

Cav L 17k miles from New project!
WTF was that? Had the same problem with a Calibra but it was the anti siphon insert that had moved down the pipe. Very embarrassing at petrol stations.

Estonian Ascona C Irmscher 88'
I replaced the speakers under the dash, small JVC oval did the job. As to the floor, no supply left. Probably best to build it up. I trimmed some 5mm acoustic adhesive foam into the hollows and then two layers of sheets covering the whole area. Make sure any sound deadening on the engine side of the bulkhead ends about 2cm above the bottom seam. Use in the trunk area as well. Its cheap from Amazon.

Copied from Ivan's post on Facebook, for those not on Facebook. VBOA NATIONAL RALLY 2025 Dates and venue 11-13th July Overstone road, Northamptonshire, NN6 0AG W3W ///gather.dangerously.marble (52.2875726, -0.8302996) Ticket details to be released very shortly. Some key points- - [ ] Dogs will be allowed - [ ] Camping with your vehicles and your fellow club members - [ ] Full shower and toilet amenities provided as per previous rally’s - [ ] Caterers will be on site - [ ] Marquee and mobile bar (subject to availability) - [ ] Evening entertainment band/DJ (subject to initial ticket sales) - [ ] Strict 11pm music cutoff in accordance with site licenses - [ ] Gates will be locked at 9pm sharp for security of all those on site - [ ] No fire pits without exception - [ ] BBQs are ok but must be raised off the ground to prevent scorching the grass - [ ] Generators are allowed but consideration given to all where they are placed and times they are used As some of you may be aware, the previous post concerning this years event was deleted. A venue was found but at the last minute they pulled the offer of camping on site. Not ideal but, sorting anything else at such a late stage presented an impossible task. The collective representatives from each club voted in favour of going ahead (speak to your reps if you are unaware of this). Returning to sywell has not been a possibility as on going price increases from across the board has made it impossible to sustain for the VBOA finances and the team as a whole. We have to make it clear that the VBOA national rally is not a commercial venture, it is ran by a small group of volunteers for the association of clubs it represents to bring us all together and offer something unique. The committee has took on board everyone’s comments from the initial venue release and have had a major rethink and manic rally round with various contacts to keep the important get-together going. Everything will be set in the same sort of arrangement as it was at Sywell. The track action will not be on offer as the site does not allow. The only thing we cannot cater for is hotels. However there are several hotels nearby as well as the caravan / glamping pods at billing aquadrome. We are hoping that the site will be accessible Thursday afternoon for everyone and as such we will be offering access and camping on Thursday evening. (Note from John, GreyDJ) Billing about 10 minutes away) The ticketing system will be simplified into day tickets and camping tickets. You will need to purchase day tickets for the days you are attending and camping tickets for the nights you will be staying over. We hope that this satisfies the majority of needs and we can move forward to making this rally as good if not better than past years! Lewis Price (Note from John, GreyDJ prices not yet official.) So Thurs and Sun nights are £5 each. Day tickets £10 camping Fri and Sat nights £10 per night. All per person. Non club members all more expensive.

This is my take. Checking on Google maps the site is on one of the commuter routes I used in the past. Passing Billing on the same route. The camping site is a big field that hosts occasional car shows. Very conveniently located about 600m from an A43 roundabout, with an Aldi, on the road to Sywell. As with Sywell Airfield, VBOA will be contracting for all the services but has more flexibility. But no licenced bar, like the hanger, or indeed any permanent buildings. The pub that many went to in Sywell for a meal is twice the distance. https://maps.app.goo.gl/MvUBFY6NyiJMRG6J9

Back at Sywell and not Billing?

From the cold north
Ascona Bs are a real cult here, rear wheel drive and easy to put a Redtop in. As to the 400 But they and their Mk1 Cavalier brother will never exceed the Mk2 in terms of numbers as many more were sold and newer.

Where are you? My partner has a daughter and grand daughter living in Stavanger. What is parts availability like? Is the broken mirror manual or electric, passenger or drivers side? Can you get one there? I can't remember seeing an Ascona C and I have been over a lot, a few Vectra A. A family friend was the Opel dealer in Stavanger, its now a block of flats!

Our 'official' group over on Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/groups/MK2CAV/?multi_permalinks=8417588218291557¬if_id=1725648589734459¬if_t=group_activity&ref=notif Put your parts advert on there and here as well. The late rear lights are much more valuable than the mid or early spec.
