July 4, 20251 yr CLUB MEMBER comment_226063 Hello Jay. I assume its what year it is made to give it an age related plate. Can you send them a picture of the slam panel id (with the date reference on it)? Maybe approach Vauxhall (or opel) and get the details from them. I believe you can request a built when type certificate. Current mk2 stock: 3 LXs: white c20xe, blue & red std, blue LX parts car, blue GLi, & monaro VXR Renault 5e daily (french go kart) Report

July 4, 20251 yr comment_226065 Many years ago i used a site called autobaza.pl it is in Polish but if you look down the list it shows VIN etc in polish click onto this and a box comes up asking if you want to translate into another language ie English then its a case of putting in your VIN number this will give some details but for the year you will have to follow RESULT AVAILABLE IN COMMERCIAL SECTION. Mine was not an import so i dont know if this will work on imports or if the site is still going as i did this with mine over 20 years ago. Report
July 4, 20251 yr comment_226066 The letter in the middle of the Vin number is the official Vauxhall/Opel indication of year of manufacture which should be accepted by DVLA. The letters from A to V cover all Mk2 and Mk3 Cavaliers in particular. There is nothing else out there that can help you. All the production records at Luton were destroyed as they has nowhere to put them and no will to keep them when they shut Griffin Hose and good luck finding any Antwerp records if yours was made there (5 or 6 after the age letter) as that site was shut. Peugeot the current owner of the brands has no interest on old GM cars and don't know what you are talking about if you were able to penetrate.. The image below is from the Vauxhall Technical Reference Guide VA0203134 January 2002. Report

But as you've posted here as well as emailed, I'll answer here without giving your VIN away. Your Cavalier in Oz was built in Antwerp 1 and is a 1985 B reg mid spec cavalier. If DVLA won't suck it up I am happy to provide a dating letter to this effect based on the VIN. Cheers. Andy Report
