Lo folks i found (kinda) an old mk2 cavvy in a shed at my work, its burried under bits and bobs (its a farm...) and from what i can tell its ben there for about 7 years.. dont know why its there (mot failure, rotten chassis...) but was wondering what i should look for i read the post about them on here (about chassis legs rotting etc.) and will have a closer look at it. what engines did they come as (was it only 1.8 and 2.0l?) the boy that works with me hit the side of it(rear quarter) with the plough, (i can hear you wince :o ) and it dented (didnt disinegrate!) i hope this is a good sign. how easy are the rear driver side quarters to find/ replace? and also driver side rear light?

will the wheel fitment be the same as modern vauxhall (mk3/4 astra corsa/ nova  etc) from what i remember i think it is a C reg..

hope you enjoy my book. lol  :D;)

p.s its a saloon i think.

will try an take pics next time am in the shed, never really in it, one of those "out of the way sheds" ya know? only prob is shed has 1 door of tractor size, is about 40 feet long, 8 ft high and V dark... lol. will try get pics though. its red.  only prob is. well. 1 dont know who actually owns it. (might be boss, farm owner, or ex tractor man... which means who do i ask if its good enough to redo? lol) 2. 4 flat tyres and jambed into a corner.. probably driven in nicely and junk pilled around it over the years = TIGHT! lol.

THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICTURES. ;):D

They came with 1.3carb, 1.6carb, 1.8i and 2.0i 8V's,  I'd imagine that it was put away with some minor mechanical problem like head gasket and forgotten

4 stud et 49 wheels,

much is mechanically interchangable between mk1, mk2 mk3 astra and mk3 cavalier.

Rear arch repair panels are still available,

Someone did manage to source a whole rear quarter panel new via the club but it was not cheap and came many miles.

Rear lights are usually quite cheap.

As for who owns it now ?  I'd contact VOSA and ask advice.  The owner of the buildings would probabally give it you to clear the space and then it's a question of contacting VOSA or DVLA.  They have websites but I once phoned the VOSA freephone help line and they were VERY helpful.

yer, well lets just say the woner of the building is my boss. and he aint to agreable with anything that might mean me not working/ being there after work. i need to refuel ma tractor tomorrow (i hope) so will take some pics. like i say though 'tis a dark shed and car is piles with junk.

thanks for the reply though.

any updates on this? :)
