Featured Replies

hi there, i am benno, 28 years old and i live in the northeast end ( near greifswald, 50000 people town with university ) of germany.

i own a 86´ opel ascona gt sport ( 18e 8v with serial round about 115hp, now a little pair of ponies more...) wich is  totally stripped in the moment, but should be half-ready in march. half ready means without the ultimate colour. because i am not allready sure about that. this car  will be like clean-race-style. we say "leerbau". only really needed things, but shiny & clean.

( if i had more money there would be a lot of carbon fibre and chrom, but in the moment. :-\ )

second one is a original c-cc ( this means hatchback i think? ) that must be worked over, because of rust.but it was very cheap and has a red interieur (inside is everything red, seats, doorborads and so on.), so i like it. the c-cc was build in 1983 and is a 1.6 machine.

excuse my bad english, but school is a long time ago.

i will take a long look at this site, maybe you will take a short one at mine: www.opelascona.de and visit my older pics and my galery.

if i find the user galery here, i will load some pics of my ascona up..

for daily use i drive a 98 omega 3.0 24v caravan, not automatik. great fun but much too heavy. i prefer light weight cars like the ascona..

regards, benno. ;D

what does "strut brace" mean? maybe you place an arrow in a picture, so i better understand.

do you mean the mirrors under the hood?

( technical words are not good translated by most programs and also bad translated if i use my dictionary..

regards, benno

hi m8,welcome to the site, hope you enjoy.the strut brace is that big bar in between the suspension tops, helps keep the car more rigid,ie-stops the chassis from flexing as much, needed on cars that are lowered

ok. i understand. you mean "domstrebe" or "fahrwerksstrebe" , more then one is "domstreben" or "fahrwerksstreben" .

most of them are build by "wiechers" but other tuners build those things too.

http://www.wiechers-sport.de/ if you want a new one, often there are used set in ebay.de

in ebay germany you must search like this: " domstrebe* ascona*"

or " wiechers* ascona*" if there are too many manta or ascona b ( mk2 i think?the rear wheeled one) then reduce your search by - b or -manta........

(other parts ad request, he will strip the whole car!)

maybe one of the new german members will sell one......

you can get the front strut bar in one part or a 3 part thing, wich is better to adjust......

regards, benno

ok.  ;D

if you have more questions about tuning parts or so please ask,  i´m sure i am able to help! ;)
