Great to see everyone.....another good showing from the nutty mk2 contingent. Thanks to all for the help throughout the week. Special thanks to Jas and Lou for the mugs, and Ivan and Clara for sorting the bar b q. I recognise the F--- OLD blue LX....I think it appeared on ebay for a reasonable sum. Looks tidy. I'll do a photo dump at some point. Final point, there was discussions of more trips.....I suggest that we keep the enthusiasm and get on it. We need some dates and budgets tabled and then maybe we (admin) can get some options.

Hello 👋 So, here we are again, a MK2 Cavalier owner once more after stupidly selling my mint Black SRi saloon “ The Bomber “ to Blitz in August 2013, who I know has looked after her very well 💪 I was bidding on the Green A plate 1.3L the other day, but I changed my mind and Charlie Cavalier won it instead to go with A32LTM 👍 The very next day this popped up in my eBay, so I messaged the seller for some info, owned by her dad for 10 yrs who is now ill of health, been parked for 3., so I made an offer and collected it on Saturday to go with my 1989 Opel Vectra A LHD, and my 1993 Carlton Diplomat 😎 A few holes / rusty bits here and there, but in general a good shell to build on. Redtop engine Chipped ECU apparently Recent ( ish ) rear brakes New rear shocks New stainless middle section Keep you updated with progress, Abo 👋

Sorry not sorry for the MK2CAV.COM anthem in the background! Thank you for your understanding on the production value! Given they came around thinking we were up to no good (someone always reports MK2 for something - I'm sure we burnt a bridge somewhere - so not sure if I could get away with one of our toy drones doing some 4k cinematics at low level! - but I'm game!) Also I realised the clip of my shakedown drive to Greg's 5 years ago was on the cutting room floor. I'll get that uploaded again too.

I have aquick video of the weekend, that I've been fighting my phone to edit while in poland. Will try to get it downloaded and then on the YT channel and hotlinked here. It kept crashing when trying to render it, but managed to get a render of a previous draft - so it's a bit rougher than of previous years. Next year however... will be different!

I have a 2005 vauxhall monaro VXR (think its the pontiac GTO in the states). Needs a little sorting out, but plan is to get that running this year. Love and LS2

i bought it for $1000. Canadian from an auto salvage yard. it was brought in with a rotted out subframe. I drove it home. figure its all resulting damage from the subframe going in it. so just playing catch up really. i agree with you tactic, other then my truck which sh!t the bed, i dont buy anything over 05 anymore. my truck was an exception because it was a bade fleet model so didnt have as much electronics to fail in it. but its dead now too so lol.

I have stopped messing with the daily......its painful on a Sunday night when I need it Monday morning so have a modern car to chuck the miles on. Hopefully I will get one of my LXs on the road for day to day use. Something special about running a classic car regularly.
  27. 1 point
well right now I'm stuck pulling the power steering rack out of my daily the 05 sunfire. i just did new wheel bearings, new axles, pads and rotors up front. power steering rack is being a pain as one of the lines wont release. i dont want to cut it off because i dont have a replacement here. like the rack, axles, and bearings, i have replacement parts with all of my cars, so buying even yet more parts that i know i already have is infuriating... but today i make the 8 hr drive round trip to drop off my son at his mothers so tomorrow, i might get to work on it some more... you can see the '94ish sunbird in the garage, I have to cut it up, motor and drive train are being donated to my mothers 86 sunbird convertible. its previous owner was rather creative with its wiring. then I have to aquire parts for its interior. a lot of the structure from the sedan will be used to replace the swiss cheese under the 87 coupe that im rebuilding. seen beside mothers vert.
  28. Andy Davies + wife with Ascona, two man tent camping 1 night Saturday & Sunday.

well... i am seriously on the fence about pulling that 82 J2000 front end off and swapping on the 1994 sunbird GT front end with the flip up headlights. (seen on the teal sedan {im colourblind} with the black gt bumpers) so... I may know a guy. lol from what i posted, I dont have the black 02 cavalier sedan, (cut it up), The black 05 cav coupe (cut it up), the primer 87 cavalier with the second gen front end swap, or the Burgundy 03 sunfire sedan (cut it up). everything else i still have. for a while i was hosting JCO meets in my side yard, had 10 cars laid out on the lawn before anyone else even showed up lol. that 87 cavalier i will be rebuilding with the other 87 cavalier thats pictured. im hoping to actually finish the car this time. i have the 94 tail section that im going to graft onto the coupe. build myself a 2-door sedan. as you can see i swapped the trunk lids on a couple of donner cars years ago. the front ends are stripped. thats how i came to the conclusion that i could just bold the 90 front end (second generation) on to the 87 (first generation). underneath the first and second generations are basically the same cars.

  33. Most know the deal by now but in case anyone doesn't; once you've signed up here you need to buy your show and camping tickets from the VBOA via the link below. https://vboa.org.uk/index.php/product/vboa-members-26/ As always attendance is members only so to get the password for tickets PM myself or retrotony87. Last year was a great show so hopefully we get the weather again.

All booked.....arriving late afternoon Friday so no day ticket needed (FYI for others doing the same). Will have a second car.....would love it to be another mk2 but likely Frasers or Kirstys.....as 4 up in the cav with all the camping kit (and club stuff) might well struggle
  35. Excellent Brett.

So still not done much tbh, but now I’ve spent money on my Vectra B, some essential maintenance and upgrades, and I finally have my Carlton MOT’d after finding some ABS sensors 🤗 this one’s next in line for a visit to my mechanic, probably next month due to funds / time 💪

No.....but I'm going. Have you flaked out for yet another year?
  38. Hi all, Bit of a weird one this - always wanted a MK2 as my dad had a couple and I loved them, learnt to drive in his E reg SRi 130 and the first car I ever helped him work on was his A reg 1.6L, so they kind of got me into cars. I've always been a petrol head and I've gone through all the different phases - started with Peugeots and Citroens, modified with various levels of success. Then JDM stuff, an Integra, a couple of Civics. Subaru, had 2 Imprezas and a Legacy, and still have a 2018 Outback as a daily. Then got into old Mercs, until I sold my 190E 2.6 in 2022 for the deposit on the Subaru, and then just forgot to buy something interesting again, until I saw this in November (apologies for the crap pics, it's been raining since then and I've not had much chance to get some good ones) It's a 1.6 SR that was fully restored back in 2012, 48k miles (no proof of that other than some old MOTs, not that bothered), original even down to the stereo except for a Weber carb and manual choke conversion. Currently just doing little jobs as and when weather allows - got the stereo rebuilt and it promptly blew up 5 minutes after reinstalling it because the speaker wiring was dodged up so that's all been replaced, just waiting on the stereo coming back fixed again. Vintage Galaxy 105 sticker (if you're from West Yorkshire, you know!), carb tuning (runs without the choke now), and next weekends job is replacing the 20 year old tyres. Plans are - a 5 speed gearbox, 40mm springs, Piper exhaust, some fogs if I can find them, then just enjoy! Oh, and reason I'm not really a new member - I joined this forum back in 2009 looking for one and gave up, just realised when I tried to sign up and it said my email was already in use!

East Side Vauxhall Owners’. They used to be East Side Vectra Owners’ but obviously that was a bit limited. Based in the Peterborough area, really friendly club, I showed with them last year with Carly

HHK it is Indeed! It's great to be back in Mk2 Cav ownership after 25 years away, but I've noticed the spares have dried up a bit since I last owned one. £100 for a clear front indicator, £500 for a set of rear lights and middle board. I had a shed load of these parts years ago. Anyway the big strip down will start this weekend whilst we have the good weather, I hope to find a pound or 2 behind the seats to re-coop some money,

Failed MOT miserably on welding amongst a few other simple fixes. I sold her on the weekend 🥹
